The Catholic Church proclaims that human life...

“The Catholic Church proclaims that human life is sacred and that the dignity of the human person is the foundation of a moral vision of society.” (United States Catechism for Adults, p. 442) Consequently, every Catholic is obliged to respect human life, from conception until natural death.

Never tire...

“Never tire of firmly speaking out in defense of life from its conception and do not be deterred from the commitment to defend the dignity of every human person with courageous determination. Christ is with you: be not afraid!”
~ Pope John Paul II – Address to visiting bishops, Feb. 3, 2001 ~

Selfishness and fear...

"Selfishness and fear are at the root of (pro-abortion) legislation...We in the Church have a great struggle to defend life...life is a gift not a threat."
~ Pope Benedict XVI, Pope warns Catholic politicians who back abortion, May 9, 2007 ~

Abortion is not only injustice...

"...abortion is not only injustice against an unborn human being; it is the desecration of something holy. Those in the pro-life movement who are Christians believe they are defending not only the equity of a human person. They are defending the sanctity of human life and the majesty of the living God."
~ Fr. John A. Hardon, The Pro-Life Movement and the Catholic Church ~

It's hard to have a future...

"It’s hard to have a future “for our children and our children’s children” without children, and in practice, Planned Parenthood specializes in the business of preventing them. Even more troubling is Planned Parenthood’s long involvement in abortion “rights” and the lethal services associated with them. Helping women kill their unborn children abuses the real well-being of women. It also violates the dignity of unborn children in a brutally intimate and permanent way."

You are fooling yourself...

"...you are fooling yourself and I fear fooling many good Catholics. You are simply not in sync with the Catholic Church. Until you change your non-Catholic positions, you should stop calling yourself Catholic. Your record shows that you support embryonic stem cell research, Planned Parenthood, contraception, family planning funding, allowing minors to have an abortion without parental consent, and are against making it a crime to harm a fetus, etc. etc."

A society that kills...

"...a society that kills its children has lost its soul and its hope..."

When our laws...

"When our laws tell people that what lies behind the thin wall of a women's abdomen during pregnancy is not a human being and that the destiny of a preborn child lies with the private conscience of the mother, we are essentially telling society that life itself is not important enough to be called an inalienable right. If life itself is not the most fundamental of all rights, then what is?"
~ Bob Dornan, former U.S. Congressman ~

St. Augustine wrote a whole treatise...

“St. Augustine wrote a whole treatise on Conjugal Adultery, in which he declared, ‘Intercourse with one’s legitimate wife is unlawful and wicked whenever the conception of offspring is prevented.’”

Worship pleasing to God...

"Worship pleasing to God can never be a purely private matter, without consequences for our relationships with others: it demands a public witness to our faith. Evidently, this is true for all the baptized, yet it is especially incumbent upon those who, by virtue of their social or political position, must make decisions regarding fundamental values, such as respect for human life, its defence from conception to natural death, the family built upon marriage between a man and a woman, the freedom to educate one's children and the promotion of the common good in all its forms (230). These values are not negotiable. Consequently, Catholic politicians and legislators, conscious of their grave responsibility before society, must feel particularly bound, on the basis of a properly formed conscience, to introduce and support laws inspired by values grounded in human nature (231). There is an objective connection here with the Eucharist (cf. 1 Cor 11:27-29). Bishops are bound to reaffirm constantly these values as part of their responsibility to the flock entrusted to them (232)."

The real question today...

“The real question today is not when human life begins, but, What is the value of human life? The abortionist who reassembles the arms and legs of a tiny baby to make sure all its parts have been torn from its mother's body can hardly doubt whether it is a human being. The real question for him and for all of us is whether that tiny human life has a God-given right to be protected by the law— the same right we have.”

It is categorically impossible...

"It is categorically impossible for the same person to state that he or she believes simultaneously both what the Catholic Church teaches and that abortion is just a choice."
~ Bishop Robert Vasa on Nancy Pelosi: There are just and unjust choices — church teaching helps ~

In the history of the world...

"In the history of the world, the true test of a civilization is how well people treat the most vulnerable and helpless in their society...unborn children are the most vulnerable and most helpless persons in our society."
~ South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds ~

The freedom to kill...

"The freedom to kill is not a true freedom, but a tyranny that reduces human beings to slavery."
~ Pope Benedict XVI, May 2005 ~

God permits no evil...

"God permits no evil in the world without a proportionate reason. Given the magnitude of this practical atheism in the modern world, we should be confident that God will mysteriously draw immense good from the evil of abortion."
~ Fr. John A. Hardon, The Pro-Life Movement and the Catholic Church ~

That special power of loving babies...

"That special power of loving that belongs to a woman is seen most clearly when she becomes a mother. Motherhood is the gift of God to women. How grateful we must be to God for this wonderful gift that brings such joy to the whole world, women and men alike! Yet we can destroy this gift of motherhood, especially by the evil of abortion, but also by thinking that other things like jobs or positions are more important than loving, than giving oneself to others. No job, no plans, no possessions, no idea of "freedom" can take the place of love. So anything that destroys God's gift of motherhood destroys His most precious gift to women-- the ability to love as a woman."

I believe abortion...

"I believe abortion is destined for the scrap heap of history. Abortion is being held aloft by the hot air of a small well-heeled elite. It's on the artificial life support system of foundation money, politically correct elite opinion, special interests, media bias, and widespread ignorance of the facts...Legal abortion will never rest easy on this nation's conscience. It will continue to haunt the consciences of men and women everywhere."
~ Pennsylvania Gov. Robert Casey in a 1993 speech to the National Press Club ~

I know this issue...

"I know this issue is very controversial. But unless and until it can be proven that an unborn child is not a human being, can we justify assuming without proof that it isn’t? No one has yet offered such proof; indeed, all the evidence is to the contrary. We should rise above bitterness and reproach, and if Americans could come together in a spirit of understanding and helping, then we could find positive solutions to the tragedy of abortion."
~ President Ronald Reagan, State of the Union Address - January 1984 ~

This is more than an issue...

"This is more than an issue, it is the sacredness of life that is at the heart of the gospel...To suggest that the truths of our faith should be determined with an eye on the collection plate is absurdly sad and borders on the blasphemous. To save just one child from such a fate as abortion is worth even parish bankruptcy. No one can serve God and money."
~ Fr. George H. Parker explaining his refusal of pro-abortion U.S. Sen. Chris Dodd's $5000 donation to St. Joseph Catholic School in 1995 (This Rock, January 1997, p. 10) ~

For you deal here...

"For you deal here above all with human life, and human life is sacred; no one may dare make an attempt upon it. Respect for life, even with regard to the great problem of the birth rate, must find here in your Assembly its highest affirmation and its most rational defence. Your task is to ensure that there is enough bread on the tables of mankind, and not to encourage an artificial control of births, which would be irrational, in order to diminish the number of guests at the banquet of life."
~ Pope Paul VI to the UN General Assembly, October 4, 1965 ~
